How we can help

At Plum Psychology, therapy is tailored to the person in front of us.

Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, we think carefully about your history, what is keeping things going, and what is most likely to help you move forwards. We offer NICE-guideline approved therapies, including:

EMDR therapy

We are particularly known for providing EMDR, a therapy designed to overcome trauma, PTSD, distressing memories, anxiety, and patterns that stem from past experiences.

EMDR is available as a weekly therapy option, we also specialise in offering this in an intensive format.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can help with anxiety, panic, overthinking, low mood, self-critical thinking, and patterns of avoidance that keep life feeling smaller or harder than it needs to.

ACT and CFT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy can help you build greater flexibility, self-understanding and self-compassion, especially if you tend to be very hard on yourself.

Who we help

Therapy Room Taunton

We work with adults facing a wide range of challenges, including:

  • burnout and emotional exhaustion

  • anxiety, panic and chronic overthinking

  • trauma and PTSD

  • low confidence or low self-worth
  • stress linked to demanding work or caring roles
  • compassion fatigue
  • relationship difficulties or life transitions
  • feeling stuck, flat or unlike yourself

Many of our clients are high-achieving professionals juggling responsibilities and high mental load, or who have spent a long time holding things together for others and have struggled to prioritise their own needs.

Some come because a recent event has knocked them sideways. Others have reached a point where they realise they cannot keep living in constant stress, pressure or 'just getting by'.

You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy with us. Sometimes the reason people reach out is simply that life has started to feel harder than it should.

What therapy can help you gain

Therapy can offer more than symptom relief. It can help you understand yourself more clearly, make sense of what has been happening, and begin to shift patterns that no longer serve you.

Depending on what brings you here, therapy may help you to:

  • feel calmer and less overwhelmed

  • understand and process difficult experiences

  • reduce anxiety, panic or constant overthinking

  • feel more confident and less self-critical

  • improve boundaries and cope better with pressure

  • reconnect with your needs, values and energy

  • feel more in control and more like yourself againf

Our aim is to offer therapy that is warm, skilled and practical — support that not only helps you talk about what is wrong, but helps you move towards meaningful change.

Take the first step

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you have been carrying a lot on your own for a long time. Reaching out does not mean things have to be at breaking point. It can simply mean you are ready for things to feel different.
