You’re smart, capable, and outwardly holding it all together - but inside, things feel increasingly unsustainable.
You’ve hit a point where stress, anxiety, or emotional exhaustion are no longer manageable with your usual coping strategies.
This isn’t about needing “more self-care.”
It’s about interrupting deeply ingrained patterns before they take a long-term toll.
I’m Dr Claire Plumbly, a clinical psychologist specialising in intensive trauma and burnout recovery for professionals who need deep, lasting change - delivered with clarity, efficiency, and psychological depth.

EMDR Intensives
A unique option for fast, focused progress
Our 2–3 day EMDR Intensives are ideal for those who want to see improvement in days, not months.
This accelerated format is still relatively rare in the UK, and our team is specially trained to deliver it safely, effectively and with the depth required for significant change.
Intensives are structured, immersive and highly effective for trauma, anxiety and burnout patterns rooted in past experiences. By working in concentrated blocks with your therapist you can reach your goals more quickly.
Ideal for: Busy professionals who want faster relief from symptoms, and who can set aside a few focused days to prioritise this.

Hi, I’m Claire,
Clinical Psychologist | EMDR Consultant | Author | Founder of Plum Psychology
I founded Plum Psychology after almost burning out twice -once in the NHS, quietly over-functioning in a stretched-thin team, and again while raising a family and running a business, outwardly coping but inwardly exhausted.
I know how overwhelming it can feel to look for the right support when you’re already overwhelmed — researching therapists, comparing approaches, trying to work out who to trust, all whilst running on empty.
Plum Psychology grew out of that realisation. I wanted to create a boutique, specialist practice where every enquiry is treated with care, and where people don’t have to guess whether they’re in safe hands. Building a highly skilled, experienced team was a big part of that — therapists who really understand burnout, anxiety and trauma, and who know how to support high-functioning people with full lives and complex pressures.
If you’re capable, committed, and carrying too much alone, you’re not the problem - and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself. You deserve high-quality, thoughtful support that helps you feel seen, understood, and gives you back control.
Dr Claire Plumbly is an HCPC-Clinical Psychologist with 20 years experience supporting individuals through burnout, anxiety, and trauma. She has seen how those who appear to be coping are often overlooked by health professionals. This is invalidating and leaves you without the support you truly need. At Plum Psychology, Claire leads her team with this in mind, ensuring each therapist is finely tuned to the realities of busy professionals. If you are accustomed to masking your struggles, or pushing through stress alone, you are in the right place.

You’re functioning — but are you really okay?

If you’re snapping at small things, fantasising about disappearing and sliding through the day on autopilot, you’re not failing...
In Burnout: How To Manage Your Nervous System Before It Manages You, Dr Claire Plumbly breaks down why you're stuck here, how your nervous system plays a hidden role, and what actually works to come back from the edge.
Written from her many years of work in the therapy room.

Professional Accreditation and Regulatory Bodies
All of our therapists at Plum Psychology are registered with the correct governing body. The HCPC is the governing body for all practitioner psychologists, the BABCP is the governing body for CBT therapists.
Where appropriate for their therapy approaches, some of our team have also pursued accreditation with extra professional bodies. Please check each therapist's individual page for more.
