Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior EMDR experience?
No. This workshop is suitable for beginners and explained step-by-step so you can practice along with the EMDR therapist during the recording
Is this therapy?
No. This is a self-guided educational workshop using EMDR-techniques taken from phases of the EMDR protocol that are safe to try at home.
Will this stop me procrastinating forever?
This workshop is designed to reduce emotional blocks around a specific task and teaches a repeatable approach. Ongoing or complex difficulties may need further support. Please note - whilst many people find EMDR techniques helpful, some people do not respond to them.
Who is this workshop not appropriate for?
This workshop is not suitable if you are currently in crisis, experiencing severe dissociation, or have unprocessed trauma that feels overwhelming. If you are currently undertaking talking therapy on this topic it is advised that you speak to your therapist before trying this technique to prevent overwhelm with conflicting ideas and models of therapy.
How does this stay safe as a self-guided workshop?
You are guided to work only with present-day tasks and mild emotional activation, staying within your window of tolerance and the language used is trauma-informed, meaning that everything is invitational and you are encouraged to listen to your body and stop at any point.
Is this trauma processing or full EMDR therapy?
No - this workshop does not involve the trauma processing and is not full EMDR therapy; it uses distinct, safe techniques from EMDR to identify and reduce emotional blocks linked to everyday procrastination. If you would like to learn more about EMDR first check out our EMDR Resource page here.
