Dr Vicky Aldridge
Specialisms: Trauma • First Responders • Moral Injury • Burnout

You might be feeling drained, disconnected or haunted by things you’ve seen or been asked to do at work. Perhaps the job that once gave you purpose now leaves you numb or angry. For many human- and emergency-service professionals, the pressure to keep going while witnessing human distress — or making impossible choices — can lead to moral injury, burnout and post-traumatic stress.

A note from the founder: I feel so lucky to have Vicky's expertise at Plum Psychology. She has many years of research and clinical experience in moral injury, and has been instrumental in developing interventions for this with veterans.  This, alongside her compassionate approach to clients makes her work highly sought after by our enquiries here!

I help people in these situations make sense of what’s happened, reclaim their values and rebuild a life that feels meaningful again. Together, we work to reduce symptoms such as hypervigilance, guilt, anger, shame and exhaustion, so you can function at work and feel connected outside of it.

I am an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years experience in mental health and have been part of the Plum team since 2023. Since qualifying in 2018, I’ve worked across NHS, charitable and forensic settings, most recently in a UK-wide veterans service. I’m trained in gold-standard trauma therapies — Trauma-Focused CBT, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) — and I integrate these with a compassion-focused approach so we can find the method that fits you best. I stay current by actively contributing to trauma research and publishing with leading professionals.  As well as weekly therapy sessions I also offer EMDR intensives.
